Neck Lift in Milwaukee

The loss of youthful contours in the face and neck can be due to heredity, gravity, aging, and stress. A neck lift is a rejuvenating surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the neck, such as loose neck skin, excess fatty deposits under the chin, jowls in the lower face, and muscle banding in the neck. When the neck area doesn’t match the upper facial appearance, a neck lift may be a good solution.

What Is A Neck Lift?

A neck lift,  also known as a lower rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure to restore the appearance of the neck and improve visible signs of aging. A neck lift is a good option for those who are happy with the appearance of their upper face, but note excess wrinkling of the neck, “turkey neck,” or a double chin.

A neck lift can improve the following:

  • Loose neck skin
  • Muscle banding in the neck,
  • Excess fat and skin that creates jowls
  • Excess fatty deposits under the chin

Other rejuvenating procedures that can be performed in conjunction with a neck lift may be a brow lift, fat transfer, or eyelift. Our board-certified plastic surgeons will recommend the best individualized, treatment options for you.

Neck Lift Consultation

A personal consultation is the first step for every patient considering a neck lift. During this meeting, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons will assess your physical and emotional health and discuss your specific goals for surgery. Contact us to request more information today!

Neck lift Surgery

Your neck lift will be performed in one of our accredited, in-office surgical suites at our Milwaukee or Waukesha office. We use both intravenous sedation (twilight sleep) or general anesthesia with one of our board-certified anesthesiologists. The type of anesthetic and location of surgery will be discussed during the consultation.

How long does neck lift surgery last?

The surgery can take from 2-4 hours. After surgery, you will spend at least 2-3 hours in the recovery area and will then be discharged. We offer private- duty nursing care if desired. Details regarding this may also be discussed during your consultation.

Neck lift recovery

As swelling and bruising subside, the visible improvements of your neck lift appear. It may take several weeks to months for swelling to fully dissipate, and up to six months for incision lines to mature.

Your final results should provide a more youthful appearance and help you feel more confident about yourself. Although good results are expected, unsatisfactory results may require revisional surgery.

Sun protection and a healthy lifestyle will help extend your neck lift results and rejuvenated appearance.

Preparing For Your Neck lift Surgery

When the date for your procedure has been set, we will provide you with specific instructions for the days immediately before and after surgery. Several points may be covered, including:

  • Avoiding certain medications that may complicate surgery or recovery, such as Aspirin, aspirin-type products,
  • Stopping smoking
  • Arranging for help and special care following surgery
