Individualized Body Contouring at Illume

Liposuction and Lipo 360 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Liposuction is a body-contouring procedure that removes localized fat from areas that may not respond fully to diet and exercise. At Illume, treatment can be customized for areas such as the abdomen, waist, love handles, upper arms, underarm area, back, hips, and thighs. We use MicroAire Power-Assisted Liposuction to support precise fat removal and create smoother, more balanced body contours. Lipo 360 may also be recommended when patients want more comprehensive contouring around the abdomen, waist, flanks, and back.

How Do Liposuction & Lipo 360 Work?

Liposuction removes localized fat deposits through small incisions using a thin tube called a cannula. It is designed for body contouring rather than weight loss and works best in areas where fat remains despite consistent diet and exercise. Liposuction does not remove a significant amount of loose skin, so patients with greater skin laxity may need a different procedure or a combination approach.

At Illume, our surgeons use MicroAire Power-Assisted Liposuction, or PAL. The powered cannula uses controlled movement to assist with fat removal and support precise contouring across small or larger treatment areas. Lipo 360 applies liposuction around multiple areas of the midsection, commonly including the abdomen, waist, back, and flanks or love handles, to create a more balanced contour from several angles.

What Areas Can Be Treated With Liposuction?

Liposuction can be customized to address localized fat in several areas of the face and body, including:

  • Abdomen, waist, and love handles
  • Upper and lower back
  • Upper arms and the underarm area
  • Hips, thighs, and buttocks
  • Chin and neck
  • Inner knees, calves, and ankles

The areas included in your treatment plan will depend on your anatomy, skin quality, and goals. Liposuction may be performed on its own or combined with another procedure, such as a tummy tuck, mommy makeover, breast lift, facelift, or BBL.

Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

Liposuction may be appropriate for adults who are in good general health, maintain a relatively stable weight, and have localized areas of fat that have not responded fully to diet and exercise. Candidates generally achieve better contouring results when they have reasonably firm, elastic skin and realistic expectations about what surgery can accomplish.

Liposuction is a body-contouring procedure, not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for weight loss. During your consultation, an Illume plastic surgeon will evaluate your health, skin quality, treatment areas, and goals to determine whether liposuction is right for you.

What Should I Expect at a Liposuction Consultation?

During your consultation, your Illume plastic surgeon will review your medical history, current medications, previous procedures, lifestyle factors, and goals for body contouring. Your surgeon will also evaluate the areas you would like treated, along with your skin elasticity and overall proportions.

Based on this evaluation, your surgeon may recommend traditional targeted liposuction, Lipo 360, or a combination with another procedure. You can also discuss anesthesia, incision placement, recovery, risks, expected results, and the cost of surgery. Illume’s surgical consultation fee is $100 and may be applied toward surgery booked within six months.

Can Liposuction Treat the Arms, Underarm Area, and Love Handles?

Liposuction can be used to reduce localized fat in areas such as the upper arms, waist, back, and flanks, commonly called love handles. Treatment may also be considered for fullness near the underarm area when the concern is primarily caused by excess fat.

Results depend on skin quality and the type of tissue creating the fullness. Liposuction removes fat but does not remove a significant amount of loose skin. If skin laxity or another type of tissue is contributing to the concern, your surgeon may recommend a different procedure or combination approach.

What Is Lipo 360, and How Is It Different From Regular Liposuction?

Regular liposuction may focus on one or more specific areas, such as the abdomen, arms, thighs, or love handles. Lipo 360 is a more comprehensive approach that treats multiple areas around the midsection, commonly including the abdomen, waist, back, and flanks.

By contouring the torso from several angles, Lipo 360 may create a smoother and more balanced transition around the waistline. It does not refer to one specific device or technique. Your surgeon will determine which areas should be included based on your anatomy, goals, and the amount of fat that can be safely removed.

What Happens During Liposuction Surgery?

Liposuction is performed through small incisions using a thin tube called a cannula. A sterile solution is typically introduced into the treatment area before the cannula is used to loosen and remove excess fat.

Illume uses MicroAire Power-Assisted Liposuction, or PAL. The powered handpiece creates controlled movement that helps the surgeon guide the cannula during fat removal and body contouring. The length of surgery depends on the number and size of the areas being treated and whether liposuction is combined with another procedure.

How Long Is Recovery After Liposuction or Lipo 360?

Recovery varies depending on how many areas are treated, the amount of fat removed, and whether liposuction is combined with another surgery. Swelling, bruising, soreness, tightness, and temporary numbness are common during the early stages of healing.

Patients may be instructed to wear a compression garment to help support the treated areas and manage swelling. Many people return to nonstrenuous work within approximately one to three weeks, depending on their procedure and job. Exercise and heavier activity should resume only after your surgeon provides clearance. Swelling may continue improving for several months.

Does Liposuction Tighten Loose Skin or Help With Weight Loss?

Liposuction removes localized fat, but it is not intended to produce significant weight loss or treat obesity. It also does not directly remove large amounts of loose or sagging skin.

Patients with good skin elasticity may notice that the skin adjusts to the newly contoured area as healing progresses. However, skin that has been stretched by aging, pregnancy, or major weight loss may not contract enough after fat removal. In those cases, a tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift, or another skin-removal procedure may be more appropriate.

Are Liposuction Results Permanent?

The fat cells removed during liposuction do not grow back. However, the remaining fat cells can still enlarge if you gain weight, which may change the contour of both treated and untreated areas.

Maintaining a relatively stable weight through sustainable eating and activity habits can help preserve your results. The final outcome does not appear immediately because swelling takes time to resolve. Your contours will generally become more defined over the weeks and months following surgery.

How Much Does Liposuction or Lipo 360 Cost in Milwaukee?

The cost of liposuction varies because each procedure is customized to each patient. Pricing may depend on the number and size of the treatment areas, whether Lipo 360 is performed, anesthesia, facility requirements, and whether another procedure is completed at the same time.
