What Is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing works by first removing the outer layers of dead skin. Any sun damage, pre-cancerous growths, age spots, or other surface imperfections are reduced and smoothed out. Second, as the laser moves across the skin’s surface, wrinkles and sagging skin are pulled up and tightened. Finally, the laser tightens as well as stimulates the matrix of the skin, and a new collagen layer forms within the skin increasing its thickness and elasticity. After resurfacing, newly treated skin cells viewed under a microscope appear younger and rejuvenated. When compared to traditional plastic surgery, laser resurfacing gives patients a more natural appearance.
We offer Fractional CO2 (provided by our Laser Technicians), Erbium, and CO2 Full Ablative (provided by our physicians) laser resurfacing treatments. Co2 Laser treatments are considered to be the gold standard in wrinkle removal and Erbium treatments are commonly performed with facelifts. Laser skin resurfacing treatments can take more than 10 years off your appearance in just one treatment.

CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing is provided by our Licensed Laser Technicians, and the downtime is 5-7 days of healing. It improves fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, skin texture, and hyperpigmentation.
CO2 Full Ablative Laser Resurfacing is provided by our physicians either under sedation in conjunction with a surgical procedure or under local anesthesia if you’re looking to treat only one area of the face. CO2 Full Ablative Laser Resurfacing removes the outer layer of the skin to penetrate deep into the dermis. The full ablative laser is highly effective in treating deeper wrinkles, significant sun damage, skin texture, and more. Initial healing downtime can take up to two weeks or more and you may experienced redness, peeling, and swelling for several days or weeks after treatment.

CO2 Fractional Laser resurfacing treats skin conditions such as wrinkles, scars, enlarged oil glands on the nose (rhinophyma), and other conditions. The newest version of the CO2 laser resurfacing uses very short pulsed light energy (ultrapulsed) or continuous light beams that are delivered in a scanning pattern to very precisely remove thin layers of skin with minimal heat damage to the surrounding structures. Recovery time from the procedure is up to two weeks for makeup application.

About Consultations at Illume
A personal consultation is the first step for anyone considering a surgical procedure, medspa treatment, or weight loss program. During this meeting, one of our board-certified plastic surgeons or licensed providers will recommend the best treatment options and answer any questions you may have.
There is no fee for medspa consultations, including Botox, filler, and skincare. There is also no fee for any weight loss consultations.
We require a $100 deposit for all out-of-pocket surgical consultations with all our Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. This $100 is fully refundable if the appointment is cancelled or rescheduled with at least a 24-hour notice. Your $100 deposit can be applied towards the cost of your surgical procedure provided that surgery is scheduled within 6 months from the time of the consultation. Surgery beyond 6 months from the time of the initial consultation or for procedures not discussed in the original consultation would require another consultation and a $100 deposit.
All our plastic surgeons offer in-person consultations. Virtual consultations are available upon request.
