Wedding season has a way of sneaking up fast. One day it’s “we have plenty of time,” and the next you’re ordering shoes and realizing your calendar is full. If you’re thinking about Botox, fillers, or skin treatments before a wedding, the best results usually come from a simple plan and a little breathing room.
At Illume, we like timelines that feel calm and realistic. Here’s how we typically help patients map treatments leading up to the big day, whether you’re the bride, groom, in the wedding party, or simply want to feel amazing in photos.
The Big Picture: Plan Backward From Your Date
A good rule: give “deeper” treatments more time, and save glow treatments for the final stretch. When you plan this way, everything settles beautifully, and you’re not rushing around trying to fix last-minute redness or swelling.
6–9 Months Before: Start If You Want Real Texture Changes
If your goal is smoother texture, firmer-looking skin, smaller-looking pores, or help with acne scarring, start here. These treatments build results gradually and often work best as a series.
Good options to start early include:
- MOXI laser
- Microneedling
- A planned series of chemical peels
This is also the best window to do a trial run if you’re new to any of these treatments and want to see how your skin responds.
3–4 Months Before: Collagen-Boosting Treatments and “Skin Plan” Season
This is where the magic starts to show. If you began earlier, this is often when you build momentum with follow-up sessions. If you did not start earlier, this is still a great time to begin a skin-focused series that can deliver noticeable improvement by the wedding.
If you’re doing a series, this is also when we fine-tune home care, because good at-home habits make in-office results look even better.
8–10 Weeks Before: Chemical Peels and Skin Brightening
If your skin tends to look dull, uneven, or congested in photos, this is a great time for chemical peels or other skin-refresh treatments. A peel can help:
- brighten tone
- smooth texture
- soften the look of fine lines
- improve how makeup sits on the skin
This timing gives you room for any light flaking or sensitivity. It also lets you do another peel if your provider recommends a series.
6–8 Weeks Before: Dermal Fillers
If you’re thinking about filler, earlier is better than later. That doesn’t mean filler is dramatic. It just gives you plenty of time for subtle swelling to settle and for the final result to look natural in photos.
Common wedding-season filler goals include:
- soft cheek support for a more rested look
- smoothing around the mouth
- lip definition that still looks like you
Plan this window even if you’ve had filler before. Small bruises can happen, and it’s nice to have a buffer.
3–4 Weeks Before: Botox
Botox is a favorite for wedding season because it quietly smooths movement lines and helps you look more rested in photos. It is not instant. Results start to show in a few days, and the full effect settles in around two weeks. Booking it three to four weeks out gives you time for:
- the result to fully settle
- a small touch-up if your provider recommends it
If you’re new to Botox, consider doing your first treatment even earlier than this, then do a refresh closer to the event. That approach feels extra low-stress.
2 Weeks Before: Final Tweaks and Skin Calming
This is the “keep things gentle” phase. We usually recommend avoiding anything brand new or aggressive here. Great choices around this point:
- calming facials
- hydration-focused treatments
- skincare adjustments for sensitivity or dryness
If you’re acne-prone, this is also a smart time to focus on calming inflammation rather than introducing strong new products.
1–3 Days Before: Glow Treatments
This is the fun part. If you want your skin to look smooth, hydrated, and fresh right before your event, this is when a glow treatment shines.
Common choices include:
- HydraFacial MD
- a brightening facial
- a hydrating facial
These are designed to make skin look better quickly, with little to no downtime. They also help makeup apply more evenly.
The “Please Don’t Do This Right Before the Wedding” List
A few friendly reminders that save a lot of stress:
- Don’t try a brand-new injectable provider for the first time right before the event.
- Don’t schedule filler the week of the wedding.
- Don’t introduce a new retinol, acid, or strong active the week of.
- Don’t plan a strong peel or aggressive resurfacing treatment too close to the date.
A wedding timeline works best when your skin is calm, your results are settled, and you’re not troubleshooting anything at the last minute.
