Perineal Masculinization
Perineal Masculinization can include Simple Metoidioplasty, Monsplasty, Labiaplasty, and Scrotoplasty. Simple Metoidioplasty releases a testosterone-enlarged clitoris from the pubic bone to create a small phallus. This procedure does not require urethral lengthening.
Labiaplasty can reconstruct or reshape the appearance of the labia, Scrotoplasty is a procedure to create a pouch-like scrotum using labial tissues, and Monsplasty can reduce excess skin and fat above the pubic bone.

Insurance, Cost & Financing
Bottom surgery cost depends on the procedure, whether it’s staged, and anesthesia and facility fees. Many insurance plans cover gender-affirming genital surgery when their criteria are met, but documentation and pre-authorization requirements vary. Call your insurer to confirm coverage before your consultation. If you’re paying out of pocket, Illume offers payment plans and patient financing, and you’ll receive a personalized quote after your consultation.
At this time, Dr. Bourn will only see patients as a GAS consult if they are 18 years of age and will only perform surgery once they are 19 years of age. Learn more at wpath.org
What bottom surgery procedures does Illume offer?
Illume offers simple metoidioplasty, scrotoplasty, monsplasty and labiaplasty for transmasculine patients, and orchiectomy and shallow-depth vaginoplasty for transfeminine patients. All procedures are performed by Dr. Lynn Bourn, MD.
What is shallow-depth vaginoplasty?
Shallow-depth vaginoplasty, also called zero-depth vaginoplasty or vulvoplasty, creates the external female anatomy, including the labia and clitoris, without creating a vaginal canal. Because there is no canal, lifelong dilation is not required.
What is the difference between shallow-depth and full-depth vaginoplasty?
Full-depth vaginoplasty creates a vaginal canal and requires regular dilation after surgery. Shallow-depth vaginoplasty creates the external anatomy only, with a shorter recovery and no dilation. Dr. Bourn can help you decide which fits your goals and will refer you if full-depth surgery is the right choice.
Does insurance cover bottom surgery?
Many insurance plans cover gender-affirming bottom surgery when their criteria are met, which may include letters of support and a period of hormone therapy. Requirements vary, so contact your insurer before your consultation. Illume also offers financing for self-pay patients.

Dr. Lynn Bourn is a Board Eligible Plastic Surgeon with a remarkable healthcare background that has nurtured her exceptional patient care.
Dr. Bourn is a Louisiana native who spent years at the bedside as a registered nurse prior to her medical and surgical training. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University, earned her medical doctorate from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and went on to complete a six-year integrated Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery residency at Saint Louis University. Her passion for harmonizing Plastic Surgery principles, from both reconstructive and cosmetic procedures, culminated with a Gender Affirming Surgery fellowship from Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Bourn’s goal for each patient is to cultivate confidence building as the mind and body are intertwined. She prides herself on providing inclusive surgical care centered on patient safety through informed shared decision making.
