What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a procedure at Illume that uses concentrated beam of light to remove unwanted hair. This light penetrates the skin, without damaging it, and is absorbed by the hair follicles. The light gives off a high heat which damages that hair and the regenerative matrix that regrows hair. This reduces the potential for regrowth.
Laser hair removal was once used to treat just smaller areas, such as your facial areas like chin, lip, and eyebrows, but can now be used on larger surfaces like your, backs, shoulders, abdomens, and legs. Larger hair removal procedures can be treated fairly quickly, and facial areas can be treated in a matter of minutes.
How Long Does It Last?
Laser hair removal is meant be a long-term solution! This means that once your procedure and hair removal plan is completed, the hair in your treatment area should no longer grow back for quite some time. This means you won’t have to get out that razor or wax for your problem area as frequently as you were.
While the treatment long lasting, you will need to undergo a few different treatments to see the full results. For most patients and their hair removal spots, there are about 5 treatments at 6–8-week intervals. This means that most final results won’t be seen for several months post treatment. It’s also important to know that different areas require different laser hair removal plans. Some hair, like upper lip hair, is thin and more difficult to clean up. Whereas coarse hair, like that you find in your armpit or bikini lines, will take less time to remove.
