About Semaglutide

How Semaglutide Works

Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide (GLP1) analog. GLP-1 is a naturally occurring peptide hormone that impacts your appetite and digestion. GLP-1 is produced in the small intestine which then stimulates insulin secretion and slows down glucagon secretion. This delays gastric emptying and slowing down the rate at which your stomach sends food to your large intestine. This slower digestion (which improves blood sugar) and a longer feeling of fullness.
